REPORT

Manager Keith Edleston writes that "Injury still kept Gail, Becky and Rachel out of contention and Hannah was also unavailable so Cyprus fitted into a midfield berth and a strong squad was available for selection. New signing Tallulah was present to watch her new colleagues in action".

The following match report comes courtesy of Phil Taylor.

Straight from the kick off Altrincham were quickly onto the attack and Tracey went close after only two minutes. We spoke before the game about starting with a high tempo to the game and to close players down quickly but, alas, in the third minute Wallasey got the benefit of a possibly debatable offside decision to take the lead.

Alty came back and, following good work down the left hand side, a shot from Brogan went narrowly wide.

There was concern on ten minutes when Lizzie collided with a Wallasey forward after coming out bravely and required some treatment before carrying on.

Alty continued to push on with Tracey and Sam Jones both having chances, one going just wide and the other drawing a good save from the Wallasey Keeper.

Despite occasionally moving forward with some purpose it had been a strangely disjointed and insipid performance from the Ladies thus far and the frustration of players and management was clearly visible.

Cyprus effected some excellent defensive work before starting an attack down the Alty right but, unfortunately, a good cross from Cloe cleared everyone and went out for a goal kick.

The Alty girls' efforts were finally rewarded on 32 minutes when Cloe expertly headed home a free kick which had been accurately delivered by Caroline.

Unfortunately the Altrincham Ladies could not push on from here with their performance again becoming oddly disjointed.

The time taken for treatment to Lizzie and also to an injury sustained by Beth meant that there were three additional minutes to be played and in the second of these failure to close a Wallasey player down quickly enough allowed her to strike a fine shot past Lizzie from distance.
