30. George Pybus

Altrincham to Chelsea, 1934

Born Brandon. Inside-right, originalIy with Bradford City without making the first team. Released and signed for Altrincham for the 33/34 season but his abilities soon came to the attention of Chelsea who signed him for £350. Unable to break into the team at Stamford Bridge, he moved to Gillingham for 35/36 season, making 6 League appearances and scoring once. He then moved back to non-league football with Folkestone.

31. Robert Roberts

Altrincham to Manchester United, 1912

Born Earlestown, circa 1892. 5ft 9ins, 11st 5lbs. Right-back. Joined United from Altrincham in May 1912 and stayed to May 1919 but played only 2 games for the ‘Reds’. Made his debut against Sheffield Wednesday on 27/12/19l3.

32. Frank Ryder

Altrincham to Port Vale, 1936

Born Summerseat 7/3/1909. Died November 1978. Outside-right, outside-left or inside-right. Started at Prescot, then moved on to Sunny Brow Olympic. Spent 2 seasons at Bury (31/32- 32/33). Moved to Torquay for the 33/34 season playing 20 league games and scoring 9 goals. He left after one season and joined Ards for one season (34/35) before joining Altrincham for season 35/36. After a season he left and joined Port Vale for season 36/37 but then returned to Altrincham the following season.

33. Cliff Stanton

Altrincham to Oldham, 1927

Born Stockport 12/8/1908 Died Holywell 7/10/1970. 5ft 8ins, 10st 8lbs. Centre-forward or outside-right. Joined Altrincham from Greek Street Baptists in Stockport and scored 54 goals for Altrincham in season 26/27 which persuaded Oldham to sign him. Spent 27/28 and 28/29 with Oldham, playing just 13 league games with 4 goals. Moved to Macclesfield for 29/30 season, scored 32 goals and was selected to represent the Cheshire League. He took a last chance at league football, rejoining Oldham in May 1930 making a further 5 league games and scoring one further goal during the 30/31 season.

34. Robert (Bob) Ward

Altrincham to Crewe, 1931

Had two spells at Moss Lane. Started at Manchester United making no first team appearances before spending the 29/30 & 30/31 seasons at Southend United, playing in 39 League games and scoring 2 League goals. Moved back and joined Altrincham for season before joining Crewe Alexandra, where he played 68 League games a spell at Rhyl was followed by his return to Altrincham for the 33/34 season and was first-choice centre-half for 4 seasons before finding himself at Buxton.

35. Robert S. (Bob) Weaver

Altrincham to Burnley, 1930

Born Ponkey 1/1/1912. Outside-right or centre-forward. Played 6 league games for Burnley between 1930/31-31/32, then moved to Luton Town for 32/33 season, playing 3 League games and scoring his first League goal. Moved to Bristol City for 33/34 season, playing a further 3 league games.

36. William Ira (Bill) Winstanly

Altrincham to Stoke City, 1935

Born Prestwich 26/10/1906. Height 5ft 10ins, 11st 8lbs. Right-back. Signed for Stoke, after trials in August 1933, as understudy to Bob McGory. Went on to captain the reserves and played till 38/39 season making 48 League appearances. Moved back to Manchester in the summer of 1939 and played for Trafford Park.

37. Herbert (Bert) Worsley

Altrincham to Bolton Wanderers, 1930

Born Stockport 20/9/1911. Died 1976. Height 170cms, weight 66 kgs. Outside-right or inside-right. Joined Bolton Wanderers 30/31. Left and joined Manchester North End. He then joined Leeds United 1/8/32 and played 3 League games in 34/35 season. Left 1/6/35 and joined Fulham, playing 35/36-39/40 seasons, playing 107 League games in all and scoring 15 goals.
