Altrincham were without four regulars for today's game. Vernum Rowland was in first-team action on Saturday and picked up a groin strain. Also missing, injured, were Lee Thompson and full-back Paul Glynn whilst striker Mario Daniel was ill. There were two newcomers on the bench, Nathan Ardayfio and Ashley Elliott.

Watched by observers from Morecambe, preparing for the Premier Cup Final against Altrincham in April, the game got off to an even start. Altrincham took the lead after 28 minutes when David Walsh beat two opponents and, though his progress was then blocked, the ball came for Steve Lunt to turn and strike the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Altrincham were on top by the interval but failed to convert a number of chances.

In the second half Alty began to pass the ball around well and maintained their dominance. They doubled their lead after 72 minutes when a defensive error let in Lee McDonald, some 35 yards from goal. He advanced on goal and his shot brought a fine reflex save from the Lancaster keeper but David Walsh knocked in the rebound from an angle. Six minutes later Domain Esdale replaced Steve Lunt as Alty created more chances but were denied by some good goalkeeping. Altrincham have now moved up to third place in the League table.
