MARIO AND OTIS IN FIRST TEAM SQUAD AGAIN

Both Mario Daniel and Otis Thomas were in the squad which lost 1-3 in yesterday's FA Trophy replay at Bishop Auckland. Mario did get on to the pitch after 58 minutes, replacing Alex Hay, but Otis was unused. Mario has now started one game and been a playing sub in three first-team games whilst Otis has made four sub appearances, scoring one goal (v Ilkeston).

MARIO AND OTIS ON THEIR TRAVELS

Both Mario Daniel and Otis Thomas are booked for trials in the coming week. Mario is scheduled to play for Everton's Academy side this weekend whilst Leicester City are also believed to be tracking his progress. Meanwhile Otis Thomas returns to Bristol for a trial, this time at Bristol Rovers, having already spent a fortnight at Bristol City recently.

    MARIO AT BISHOP AUCKLAND

Mario Daniel played the second half of Saturday's 0-2 defeat at Bishop Auckland. However, his blistering shot in the 68th minute, which the keeper saved magnificently, was the best effort of the game by Altrincham.

    OTIS RETURNS

Otis Thomas has now returned to Altrincham, having completed the second portion of his trial at Bristol City.

    OTIS PIPPED AT POST

Despite three substitute appearances by Otis Thomas in Altrincham first team Cup competitions, 16 year-old Mario Daniel leapfrogged 17 year-old Otis to make his debut in the Unibond Premiership just 42 minutes ahead of his older colleague. Mario replaced Danny Murphy after 25 minutes whilst Otis had to wait till the 67th minute to come on for Steve Porter. Sadly, their debuts ended in defeat as their senior colleagues turned in what Mark Ward considered to be one of their poorest performances of the season.

    MARK WARD PRAISES YOUTH TEAM

This week's SAM newspaper carries praise from Mark Ward for the work of George Heslop in building a successful Altrincham Youth Team this season. Ward has included Otis Thomas in his squad for all of Altrincham's cup matches this season and believes that "it is down to the hard work of the youth team and, in particular, George Heslop, that players of Otis's quality are coming through".

    OTIS SCORES FOR FIRST TEAM

Youth Team player Otis Thomas scored the equaliser for the first team in the Trophy tie at Ilkeston on Saturday. Fresh from his trials at Bristol City, Otis's firm goalbound shot from the edge of the box was deflected into the net eleven minutes from the end of the match. A match report is here.
