    MARIO AT BISHOP AUCKLAND

Mario Daniel played the second half of Saturday's 0-2 defeat at Bishop Auckland. However, his blistering shot in the 68th minute, which the keeper saved magnificently, was the best effort of the game by Altrincham.

    OTIS PIPPED AT POST

Despite three substitute appearances by Otis Thomas in Altrincham first team Cup competitions, 16 year-old Mario Daniel leapfrogged 17 year-old Otis to make his debut in the Unibond Premiership just 42 minutes ahead of his older colleague. Mario replaced Danny Murphy after 25 minutes whilst Otis had to wait till the 67th minute to come on for Steve Porter. Sadly, their debuts ended in defeat as their senior colleagues turned in what Mark Ward considered to be one of their poorest performances of the season.

Ward has included Otis Thomas in his squad for all of Altrincham's cup matches this season and believes that "it is down to the hard work of the youth team and, in particular, George Heslop, that players of Otis's quality are coming through".
